Introduction to Illustrator

These projects will help you get used to the layout and how to move around in Illustrator. Our shapes and shape builder tools are some of the basic drawing tools that we can use to begin to create.

Part 1

Using the tools discussed in class recreate the mickey mouse design. Remember to use the shape builder tool to create new complex shapes for parts of the face.

Part 2

Recreate the twitter logo with the provided design using only the selection tool, zooming & the shape builder. Remember that holding option will allow you to remove parts of the new shape.

Part 3

Take what you have learned from the previous two assignments and create an original cartoon. While using the basic shapes to create different pieces be sure to apply the shape builder tool to combine them together when necessary Be sure to explore other tools to begin to get an understanding of how things work in Illustrator. There is nothing that can't be undone so be sure to try and play with everything and ask questions.
